HEARTWORM & HEARTGARD​

We use Heartgard every month for our adult dogs to prevent heartworm disease.  Your vet will be able to recommend when you should start this product with your puppy.

What is HEARTWORM?
Heartworm Disease is a serious ailment that can affect dogs.  "Heartworm disease is a serious disease that results in severe lung disease, heart failure, other organ damage, and death in pets, mainly dogs, cats, and ferrets. It is caused by a parasitic worm called Dirofilaria immitis. The worms are spread through the bite of a mosquito."

LYMES DISEASE & NEXGARD

What is LYMES DISEASE?
Deer Ticks and Lymes disease can be quite serious.  It is important to protect your pet as best as you can.  Your vet will most certainly have a recommendation for you as to what products are best for your particular region in the country.  Some of our favorite tick prevention products that we have used over the years with great success are NexGard chewables, Bravecto chewables and Seresto collars.  Your vet will usually have these products on hand, or you can request them on sites such as Chewy.com.

PARVO

What is PARVO?
Parvo is very prevalent in the United States and is almost always lethal if a puppy gets it.  It is very contagious and one of the main reasons that we recommend you keep your puppy to yourself until they are fully vaccinated (this is one of the diseases they are being vaccinated for).  Not only can your puppy get it from another dog, but parvo can remain in soil for up to 5 years.  Anywhere an infected dog has been can cause infection in your puppy as well.  So definitely take precautions with your new little furry family member.

HEAT STROKE

What is HEAT STROKE?
Remember to be careful with your little puppy in the heat!  Heat stroke can rapidly come upon a little pup because they don't have the panting capability yet, that an adult dog has, and can become quickly overheated.  Make sure to never leave them outside unattended on extremely hot days and make sure they always have fresh water and shade available to them if they are outside.  Also, never leave your puppy in a vehicle unattended.

PARASITES & WORMS

What to expect with PARASITES & WORMS

Parasites and worms are just part of a dog's life.  Some are not harmful, but others we'd like to avoid.  Many animals in nature carry parasites and worms and your puppy/dog can come into contact with or inadvertently ingest one of these pesky organisms quite innocently and easily.  We use several natural products/supplements to help prevent parasites (i.e., giardia, coccidia, worms, etc.) in our puppies and adult dogs.  We do everything we can to ensure our animals have healthy tummies!  Below is our parasite prevention protocol and these are products we recommend and use daily for our adult dogs and puppies.

Amber Naturalz Kochi Free:

“Kochi Free contains antioxidants and promotes bowel health, gastrointestinal health and helps the body maintain a healthy inflammatory response.”  This product can be purchased at our Amazon Shop.  Read the review section for personal accounts when used for parasites!  We administer to puppies 2x a day, beginning at 5 weeks old, till they go to their new homes.

MSM (Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane):

MSM has many health benefits for dogs, including being a great supplement for their joints, etc.  “…MSM [actually] has amazing anti-parasitic action against Giardia, roundworms, and other intestinal worms. MSM blocks parasites by competing for receptor sites on the mucous membrane of the intestines. When parasites cannot attach themselves, they are simply flushed out of the system.”  Read more HERE!

Pre & Probiotics are another great supplement to ensure your pet has a heathy gut.  We use the following products for our puppies and adult dogs.

Pyrantel Pamoate

Durvet Liquid Wormer is another excellent product, used for the prevention of roundworms and hookworms.  We administer to puppies 1x per week, beginning at 2 weeks old, and continue to administer weekly til they go to their new homes.
